DG National Report: Portland by Francesca Piantadosi

Several things are happening here in thePacific Northwest.

We have a new program starting up in this region called Submission Ready. January 26 at Miracle/Milagro Theatre we unveiled it. Two local directors (Patrick Walsh and Sam Hull) have agreed to give feedback (initially on ten page samples) to our members. Should the program grow, eventually full scripts might be read and the possibility of a production. Since it’s brand new we’re not sure of all the places it will take us. But we bought a big road map just in case.

Also Dramatists Guild member Don Horn has done countless hours of research for his show Storefront Actor’s Revue: The Babes Are Back. Storefront was one of Portland’s most iconic theatres back in the day and Don dug through old meeting minutes and financial records in order to learn what made this theatre tick. Some vintage costumes from Storefront plays will be on display as well. His show runs May 7 through 30 2015 at Triangle Productions.
